Jahreszeiten-Kinder

basic information

The "story behind"

My oldest son wanted a cushion for the cozy corner in the kindergarten. He attended the Sun group. In consultation with the teacher should get a cushion sun motif. The children are the Ordinary by their dress. Each child stands for a specific month. And every child got his own name. Similarities with some children living in the sun and where groups are quite wanted.

expression
The patterns are made available as a pdf.. To open the files, you need the Acobat Reader A free download can be found here . Please

If someone wants to work in a different size than specified may be adjusted or the pressure is copied to a copy shop (copy shop), the pattern larger. Smaller templates I do not recommend!

(see further processing )

The application method is a little different than usual.

are usually arranged the parts on each other and applied.

Here I have arranged the items are always a small gap. Each piece is individually on the background fabric and is also sewn on individually. The background fabric forms a kind of "Stained Glass" effect. He flashes forth between all the components and frames so each part. See also the corresponding images.

Important preparations:

The top of the pillow front, the fleece and the back of the pillow front attach well or use a spray adhesive. Everything will be applied directly on the wire-stitched top. Through the three layers applied throughout the subsequent saves quilting. For better orientation, please bring lines (diagonally, vertically and horizontally centered in the middle and the outer edge 80 x 80 cm), for example, with a light pen on the chalk on top. Please use only sticks that can be guaranteed washed out or brushed out.

The pattern on fusible web (there are other adhesive media) transferred - all patterns are already reflected and directly to the copying. Knowledge of Vliesofix I suppose. The selected materials are prepared with the adhesive backing. The motifs reflected on the smooth side of the paper record with a pencil, cut out and then placed on the background fabric. By ironing the subject stuck firmly on the background. Here strongly on the correct pages eighth otherwise bonded quickly the iron or the ironing board. Evt. Baking paper to protect the scale.

Try starting with the center (sun) and work your way through the sun wreath for the children outside.

The children are placed so that they almost touch each other and finally form a circle around the sun.

Please note that touch the pieces of cloth to be applied at any point. It gives the impression of stained glass, a "Stained Glass" effect. remains between the individual substances, an approximately 3 - 4 mm wide strip to see the background, see also the individual images of children.

The children have no faces. For one, I think it is here with the tradition of the Amish, the paint on their faces, or never-dolls, embroidery, because they fear an image of the face and only the one God is regarded as perfect. Second, I wanted to save me the trouble of 12 different children's pairs of eyes, mouths and noses, to stitch, because I do not find that easy. has

A dark background in dark blue, anthracite or black:

background proved. The shapes and colors are better advantage.

stitch:

I have worked with a Pfaff 7550 and worked with the buttonhole stitch. Settings stitch width and stitch length a 1.5. fall through the dark background of smaller "missing stitches when applying to the machine to not so much.

But not all sewing machines have this stitch.

you test and find out a few stitches and then take those who like the best.

course, the Application parts and sewn all by hand and the button hole stitch or buttonhole stitch.

further processing:

I sewed a pillow from the top.

The pillow is finished 80 x 80 cm. To sew a pillow and possibly desired sewing a zipper I suppose.

course is to sew a cushion no obligation! Thus, even a wall hanging, a tablecloth or anything else come of it.

The children can also be placed side by side in a row and with a reduced Sun a great runner arise. Ideas, there are certainly many.

Embroidery:

The designs are also suitable for embroidery.

transfer of the pattern:
I use my light box - embroidery - print pattern paper attached to the light box, cloth over it, copy with a fine lead pencil / spell pen (blue) / fine pencil . Please test before this magic pins on a carbon radical and never iron, when the pin has not been washed out - that can go wrong!

Another option is to bow pin. In order to paint the design right - on the back of the printed pattern. This can again take the light box or (stick paper with the beduckten page on the glass and traced with the bracket pin) in daylight a window. Paper with the painted side to the fabric basket, ironing - careful not to move paper and lift off.

The light box also, for example, the extension table is of some sewing machines, provided they are made of transparent material. Lamp lay under it and start.
Or, if available, a glass panel from a larger frame on 4 "blocks" of books set, lamp set including,
or an old scanner,
or living room table with glass top,
or other boxes with a glass plate on top, into which a lamp can be deposited.
Please be careful with the lights, provide enough ventilation to prevent it from becoming too hot and possibly ankokelt something.

Some printers can now also print directly onto the fabric - this requires the pre-treat the fabric, however, and after ironing with freezer paper and buy pre-treated fabric, which I think is too expensive and it is perhaps not the base fabric.

anyone want to work on dark matter, then you can apply the Prickel-chalk method.

base material:
This woman can really take everything to please.
Batiste is a little too fine, which can be helpful when the woman is a thin fabric back aufbügelt. This strengthens the fabric and can be seen not as the sewn threads or floats from one place to another stick.
Every normal cotton fabric is suitable. Whether plain or patterned in the matter of taste. Color - also a matter of taste.
I use a normal PW-Basic and have it with a thin Fleece behind ironed out.

embroidery thread:
I will stick twist - three threads -
Here it is all free to make his own decisions. It's also thin pearl cotton, Wildflower yarns, even dyed yarn, etc. Blomstergarn
Whether single-or multi-colored ... Once again a matter of taste!

embroidery stitches:
You can embroider the entire block in an embroidery stitch. Fortunately, there's the Backstitch (lock stitch, line stitch or back stitch) to . But the Stemstitch (stem stitch) REDWORK the actual engraving, is suitable.
I as the main stitch and embroider Backstitch the details with the use Running Stitch (running stitch - as the quilt stitch) . Other elements can Lazy Daisy Stitch (loop stitch) and French Knot (nodules stitch) worked.

needles:
I have no particular preference. I embroider with pure embroidery needles (with tip) and normal sewing needles.

Hoop: should ensure
To an even stitch it back on a hoop. However, those already trained and the one or other irregularity not interfere can embroider free - without a frame.
When I embroider a box, I take a metal hoop. But it is also any wooden embroidery frame in the appropriate size.
